Welcome to the 3-year RECSA Report for the period FY2018 to FY2021.
As the Executive Secretary at the RECSA Secretariat, I have had the great pleasure of witnessing RECSA’s continued coordination in the implementation of Weapons and Ammunitions Management (WAM) in its Member States. Our vision at RECSA is to achieve a safe and secure sub-region within a peaceful continent, free from arms proliferation. Throughout this period, all our efforts have been focused on implementing interventions aimed at curbing diversion from government stockpiles and reducing the risks of unintended explosions.
During the reporting period, we have achieved notable milestones in various areas. These include institutional development and strengthening through capacity building, ensuring the physical security and proper management of stockpiles through improved weapons and ammunition management practices, building capacity for public education and awareness on Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW), as well as enhancing the capacity for monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting at both the Secretariat and Member States levels.
