The Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) is please to announce the upcoming Regional Action Plan Validation Workshop on Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) in the Context of Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR). This pivotal workshop will take place on Monday, 18th November 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Upper Hill, Nairobi, Kenya.
Workshop Overview
The effective management of weapons and ammunition is a cornerstone of successful disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) efforts. This process contributes to sustainable peace and security in post-conflict regions. Recognizing its importance, RECSA, in collaboration with the Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC), has developed a draft Regional Action Plan on WAM within the DDR Context. This plan, based on outcomes from previous regional roundtable dialogues, seeks to guide member states in implementing safe, accountable, and effective WAM mechanisms.
The workshop aims to validate this draft plan, ensuring alignment with the specific needs and priorities of RECSA member states while fostering regional collaboration for successful implementation.
