Visit of His Excellency the DRC Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Security and Customary Affairs and Chair of the RECSA Council of Ministers to Nairobi, Republic of Kenya

On 28th – 30th January 2021, H.E Gilbert KANKONDE MALAMBA, Vice Prime Minister & Minister of Interior, Security and Customary Affairs DRC who is also the Chairperson of the RECSA Council of Ministers visited the RECSA Secretariat Headquarters in Nairobi.
This was a testament of the commitment of the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo to support and facilitate RECSA’s main objective of preventing, controlling and reducing the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the Great Lakes Region,the Horn of Africa and Bordering States.
During his visit, the RECSA Council of Ministers (CoM) Chairperson:
- Was received by the RECSA Executive Secretary – Lt. Badreldin Elamin Abdelgadir. He appreciated the maiden visit of the CoM Chairperson and assured him of the unwavering dedication of the Secretariat to achieve its mandate;
- Met with E Dr. Fred MATIANGi – the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government (the Vice Chairperson of RECSA Council of Ministers.) During this meeting, the two Principals made a commitment to convene the 10th Council of Ministers meeting in April 2021 in Kinshasa;
- Held a number of meetings with National Focal Point Coordinators on SALW from both Kenya & DRC as well as RECSA Secretariat staff;
