RECSA has formalized its working partnership with the Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa (CISSA) with the Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU signed by the Executive Secretaries Mr. Shimelis Woldesemayat (CISSA) and Mr. Theoneste Mutsindshayaka (RECSA) at the CISSA headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, cements our institutional partnership and sets the stage for implementation of mutually-reinforcing activities.
RECSA and CISSA have a convergence of interests towards peace and security in Africa. Under the MoU, the two institutions will seek to work on:
1.Promoting and developing intelligence exchange capabilities.
2.Promoting the exchange of information with a view to provide RECSA Member States with necessary data and intelligence for the adoption of, amongst others, an African Policy and Strategy for the prevention, control and reduction of small arms and light weapons in Africa.
3.Organizing and conducting joint special training programmes aimed towards strengthening the capacity of RECSA and CISSA Member States on Prevention, Control and Reduction of Small Arms and Light Weapons.
4.Participating in the activities organized by each, respectively, aimed at the Prevention, Control and Reduction of Small Arms and Light Weapons.
To achieve our vision of a safe and secure sub-region in a peaceful continent free from arms proliferation, RECSA endeavors to build inter-agency partnerships that will complement our mandate and activities.
